India is home to the world’s largest population of blind children, with estimates ranging from approximately 200,000 to 700,000. However, much of this blindness can be avoided or treated! Project Prakash conducts screening camps in villages across north-central India to identify children with treatable eye problems, and also provides sight treatment free of cost.
Global Oncology’s mission is to bring the best cancer care to underserved patients around the world. GO collaborates across geographic, professional and academic boarders to improve cancer care, research and education. GO is a volunteer community of physicians, scientists, designers, engineers, public health experts, policy makers, nurses, lawyers, students, and other professionals working in teams to help people throughout the world who are treating cancer and its related pain.
Partakers supports Massachusetts prison education by coordinating teams of volunteers who mentor women and men in prison as they attend the Boston University Prison Education Program.Through its College Behind Bars mentoring program, incarcerated people enhance skills critical to completing a college degree, and build trusting personal relationships. Both activities significantly increase their chances for success when they return to the community.
EqualHealth works with clinicians across the career continuum from medical and nursing students, to practitioners, master educators, and the full population of providers and leaders in health care in Haiti. EqualHealth collaborates with medical professionals in Haiti to expand provider capacity, strengthen educational opportunities and in turn improve care and teaching in healthcare in Haiti.
